Meet Our Dentists

  • Norman J. Marks, D.D.S.
    Dr. Norman Marks earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the Medical College of Virginia in 1971. Since that time he has continually taken courses in the latest advances in all phases of dentistry. In 1985 he earned a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry by taking 500 hours of advanced education in 5 years. Since 1982, Dr. Norman has been the chairman of Continuing Education Committee of The Richmond Dental Society. In 1993, he was recognized as a Fellow in the Virginia Dental Association for his contributions to the dental community, and in 1997, he was invited to join the Pierre Fauchard Society. Dr. Norman's greatest interests are in cosmetic dentistry and the rapidly evolving area of implant dentistry. He has completed well over 160 hours in advanced implant surgery and grafting techniques and is a Fellow in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He is among only 400 dentists worldwide who have been chosen as evaluators for Clinicians Report, formerly Clinical Research Associates, in Provo, Utah. This prestigious, nonprofit organization evaluates dental materials, equipment and techniques. Dr. Marks is a mentor at Practical Clincal Courses in Provo, Utah, one of the most respected and advanced dental educational facilities in the country. He helps write and edit the dental newsletter, Clinicians Report, a publication of CR Foundation, which is sent to seventy countries worldwide. Dr. Norman has been married to his wife, Linda, since 1972. They have two sons, Aaron and Brandon, who are now an integral part of Marks Family Dentistry. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, 'attempting' to play golf, bicycling, and traveling. Since 1990, Dr. Marks and his wife have actively supported Hanover Tavern Foundation, which is responsible for the preservation of Hanover Tavern. For several years Dr. Norman volunteered at St. James the Less Episcopal Church in Ashland, Virginia, a free medical/dental clinic. In 2009, he was instrumental in establishing a free dental clinic at the Mechanicsville Christian Center which offers free dental care to qualifying Hanover County residents.
  • S. Aaron Marks, D.D.S.

    Dr. Aaron Marks joined his father in practice in 2002, after earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia, making 'Marks Family Dentistry' a true family practice and expanding the ability for our family to serve your family. He has continued to study the latest advances in dentistry. Dr. Marks is a 2012 graduate of the Kois Center in Seattle, focusing on advanced training in cosmetic and restorative dentistry. He earned his Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists in 2009. In addition, he is a Preferred Provider for Invisalign. Dr. Marks  has stayed active in organized dentistry, has served on committees for the local and state dental societies, including having served on the Board of Directors of the Richmond Dental Society. He is a 1998 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, and at graduation, he was awarded The Algernon Sydney Sullivan Medallion, which recognizes a member of the graduating class who distinguished himself for 'excellence of character and generous service to his fellows.'  In April, 2008, he was awarded the Gammon Medallion, which recognizes the contributions of alumni who within ten years after graduation make outstanding contributions to the collegeHe has served on the Board of Directors of the Hanover Education Foundation. He volunteers regularly at the Hanover Interfaith Free Dental Clinic in Mechanicsville, and actively supports the Science Museum of Virginia. He has travelled to Jamaica, Honduras and Belize, helping provide dental care and building medical clinics in rural communities. Dr. Marks and his wife, Susan, a second grade teacher at Cool Spring Elementary School, enjoy travelling, spending time with family and friends and with their two dogs, Derby and Belmont, and two cats, Moo and Cow.

  • Brandon S. Marks, D.D.S.

    Dr. Brandon Marks joined his father and brother in practice in 2005 after graduating from the Medical College of Virginia/ Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Marks obtained his undergraduate degree in 'Integrated Science and Technology' from James Madison University and is the architect of the digital office at Marks Family Dentistry, having designed and constructed the integration of all of the high tech advances that improve your care, add to your understanding, and make your visit more enjoyable! Dr. Marks excelled in his dental studies and completed The Misch Institute--the most advanced post-graduate education in dental implants in the nation. In 2008, he earned his Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the pre-eminent organization for dental implants. He has also taken numerous advanced courses in endodontics (root canals) and esthetic dentistry. Like all of the dentists here at Marks Family Dentistry, he is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, The Richmond Dental Society, and The Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Marks joins his father and brother as a volunteer at the free clinic at the Mechanicsville Christian Center which provides dental care to qualifying Hanover County residents. He and his wife, Jennie, enjoy spending time with their daughter, Blaire, and their family and friends, travelling, gardening and grilling on the Big Green Egg!. He also enjoys college basketball, working on his 1976 Jeep CJ7, his grandfather's 1950's Allis-Chamblers tractor, and anything that pertains to building 'things' or electronics.
