At Marks Family Dentistry regular checkups include examinations to determine issues involving:

  • Tooth Decay
  • Gum Disease
  • Oral Cancer
  • Bruxism (teeth grinding)
  • Blood Pressure
  • Chipped, broken, discolored, irregular or missing teeth

Everyone's heard the old adage "If it's not broke, don't fix it", but when it comes to your health, the prudent philosophy is "Don't let it break and keep it healthy!"

Most dental problems, whether decay, gum disease, or oral cancer, start without symptoms. By the time symptoms develop, "fixin' it" requires more time, expense and usually, more post-operative discomfort.

Think about it.  Decay doesn't hurt until it's near or into the nerve.  Gum disease only has occasional symptoms (puffy and/or bleeding gums) until enough bone is lost to cause loose teeth.   And, of course, as with oral cancer, early detection is literally life saving.

We check for all these things, as well as check your bite (tooth grinding--or bruxism--is a growing problem that can cause loss of teeth), check your blood pressure (1/3 of Americans with high blood pressure don't even know if, and we check your smile for chipped, broken, discolored or missing teeth!

We don't want to just fix problems; we want to help you prevent them!
