Crowns: We've Got You Covered
If you're self-conscious about your smile due to cracked, broken, decayed, or worn teeth, crowns can bring back your healthy, natural-looking smile. Designed for proper fit, they function like normal teeth and protect your teeth from further damage. We use only precious metal in making your crowns to prevent sensitive allergies to base metals like nickle.
We can typically prepare and seat your crowns in just a couple of short appointments. Once they're placed, caring for your them is no different than proper hygiene for your other teeth... regular visits to our office for professional cleanings and daily brushing and flossing.
Types of Crowns
There are 2 types of crowns that we typically use. In back teeth that take the full force of chewing, a porcelain fused to precious metal crown has the strength to last for years, while all porcelain crowns have the exquisite beauty to give you a dazzling smile (without showing that dark line at the gums you may have seen in older crowns).
Procedure
When we have decided to go ahead with a full crown restoration, we need 2 appointments.
We begin with the removal of all decay in the tooth. Once this is done we will take an impression of the tooth. This impression is sent to our lab where your crown will be crafted. While this new tooth is created, we will have placed a temporary restoration. Our temporary crowns will resemble your natural teeth so that you can continue with your daily life without worrying about a missing or unattractive tooth.
During your second visit to the office, we remove the temporary crown and will fit the new crown comfortably in your mouth. We will make every effort to ensure that the new tooth feels exactly like one of your natural teeth. The final step will secure the crown with dental adhesive, leaving you with a beautifully restored smile.
